Start from a qualified Telco platform and modify only what your machine requires — winding, gearing, shaft, connector, feedback or controls. It is the fastest, lowest-risk route from specification to production release.
High efficiency, long life and precise closed-loop control for continuous-duty and battery-powered equipment.
Repeatable open-loop positioning for dispensing, indexing and scanning stages where accuracy is non-negotiable.
Cost-optimized torque density for intermittent duty cycles, simple drive electronics and price-sensitive builds.
Single- and three-phase induction motors for fans, blowers, pumps and fixed-speed industrial machinery.
Planetary, spur and worm gearheads matched to the motor so torque, backlash and service life stay predictable.
When nothing off-the-shelf fits, our engineers develop the winding, stack, gearing and interface around your machine.
Use this comparison as a first-pass filter, then send us your duty cycle and load profile — the right answer almost always depends on how long the motor must hold torque, not on peak torque alone.
| Technology | Best Suited For | Control Method | Relative Efficiency | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brushless DC | Continuous duty, portable and battery-driven equipment, variable speed | Electronic commutation, closed loop | Highest | Bearing life limited, no brushes |
| Stepper (Hybrid) | Indexing, dispensing, scanning, XY stages | Open-loop micro-stepping driver | Moderate | Very low |
| Brushed DC | Intermittent duty, simple drives, cost-sensitive volumes | Voltage / PWM | Moderate | Brush wear defines life |
| AC Induction | Fans, blowers, pumps, fixed-speed machinery | Direct line or VFD | Good at rated load | Low |
| Gear Motor | High torque at low speed, compact envelopes | Depends on prime mover | Motor efficiency × gear efficiency | Lubrication dependent |
Values are directional guidance for early design reviews. Final selection should be confirmed against measured load, ambient temperature and required service life.
Every market has a different gate: sterilization cycles, washdown, vibration, audit trails or cost-per-unit. We design to the gate that matters in your industry.
Syringe pumps, analyzers, centrifuges, sample handling and diagnostics equipment that must stay quiet, clean and traceable.
Conveyors, actuators, robotic axes and packaging machinery requiring predictable torque over long production shifts.
Light electric vehicles, mobility platforms and vehicle subsystems combining brushless drives with custom battery packs.
Blower and circulation assemblies where efficiency, airflow curve and noise are specified together, not separately.
Backup, telecom and industrial storage systems that need engineered pack architecture, BMS logic and safe cell selection.
Vending, kiosk, access control, gaming and appliance mechanisms where cost, acoustics and cycle count drive the design.
Since 1985, Telco Intercontinental Corp. has supported design and sourcing teams through the full product lifecycle: concept review, prototype iteration, validation, production release and long-term supply. Our application engineers speak the language of torque curves, thermal margins and tolerance stacks — and our sourcing organization keeps that design buildable at your target cost.
A structured, five-stage path that removes guesswork — and keeps your engineering, purchasing and quality stakeholders aligned at every gate.
Torque, speed, voltage, envelope, duty cycle, environment and volume captured in one requirement sheet.
Platform selection or clean-sheet design with calculated performance curves and thermal margin.
Functional samples with test data so your team can validate in the actual machine.
Life, load, noise and environmental testing; drawing freeze and first-article approval.
Volume production with controlled revisions, forecast planning and change notification.
Commonly requested starting points for new designs. Each can be modified on shaft, winding, gearing, connector and feedback to match your interface.

High speed, low inertia — ideal for pumps, fans and compact drive trains.

1.8° step accuracy for dispensing, indexing and scanning stages.

High torque density with low backlash in a short axial package.

Self-holding output for lifts, dampers and positioning mechanisms.

Ultra-smooth, low-inertia motion for portable medical instruments.

Rotor and stator set for direct integration into your housing.

Airflow-matched motor and impeller packages for HVAC platforms.

Lead-screw and stepper-driven push/pull motion with position feedback.
Share your continuous and peak torque, target speed, supply voltage, duty cycle, envelope restrictions, shaft and mounting interface, feedback or control requirements, environmental conditions and expected annual volume. With those nine inputs our engineers can return a technical concept and indicative pricing, usually within two to three business days.
A modified standard platform can reach functional samples in roughly 4 to 8 weeks. A ground-up design with new laminations, windings or gearbox tooling typically runs 12 to 20 weeks through design review, prototype, validation testing and first-article approval before volume release.
Brushless DC and coreless DC motors deliver the highest efficiency per watt and the longest service life without brush maintenance, which makes them the preferred choice for portable, battery-powered and continuous-duty equipment. Brushed DC remains cost-effective for intermittent duty, while hybrid steppers are best where open-loop positioning accuracy matters.
Yes. We support prototype and pilot builds so your design can be validated before tooling commitments, then scale the same qualified configuration into recurring production with documented change control.
Programs for medical and laboratory OEMs can include drawing-controlled specifications, material declarations, test data, first-article inspection reports and change-notification agreements so your device documentation and audits stay complete.
Send your torque, speed, voltage and volume targets and receive a technical response from a motion engineer — not a generic catalog reply.
